Choosing a reading for your wedding can be tough, especially when you don’t want the traditional biblical readings, or verse from the Corinthian.
So I’ve put a collection of some of my favourite unique wedding readings for you to consider. The collection is a mixture of poems, songs and books.
To make it even easier for you, I’ve made each a downloadable link so you can print off each reading straight away.
I Wanna Be Yours – John Cooper Clarke
The Bridge Across Forever – Richard Bach
Dance Me To The End Of Love – Leonard Cohen
When it comes to your wedding, I bet you have your theming sorted, your decorations planned, flowers organized and music chosen, but have you considered lighting?
It’s easily overlooked, especially when you usually see a venue in daylight, imagine getting married during the day or even outside, but what happens when the sun goes down?
I am a HUGE fan of fairy lights, I put them up one Christmas and they have never come down since. I think they create such a romantic, magical atmosphere. Not least they can create spectacular photographs!
I am so privileged to introduce you to the fabulous Carlos Palma.

How far in advance should I book my hair and makeup artist?
I am a huge lover of anything DIY in a wedding, as you well know. I believe it brings personality and another level of love and commitment to your special day, but I am always a little skeptical when it comes to homemade wedding dresses (unless you are a professional seamstress). I have this image of a duct taped version of a Charlie Brear, which sends shivers down my spine, but I was proved wrong by Reddit user Alkitat.
Alkikat, shared her crochet creation via Reddit and it is by far one of the must beautiful handmade pieces I have seen! I love the way she has paired it was a gorgeous lawn green sash, and the kick out at the bottom makes her look like she’s just risen from the ground like a goddess!
“I crocheted my lace wedding dress on the bus during my work commute for about 5 months. The dress is a pattern I designed with a commonly used pineapple stitch.”
To cheer you up on this wet, miserable day I am bringing you a beautiful, intimate Country House wedding of Emily and Lee Fabry who got married at Tone Dale House, Somerset in August 2013. (You may recognise a bridesmaid!) 😉
Emily, a Teaching Assistant and Lee, a Housing Officer met 5 years ago and bonded immediately over their love of silliness and banter. Their friendship grew into love and as they say, the rest is history…
It was Christmas Eve 2012, on Box Hill, Surrey. Each year we go up there to release lanterns in the memory of my Grandparents. It was pouring with rain and I thought it was pointless to go as they wouldn’t work but Lee managed to convince me that we should try anyway, so off we went. Unsurprisingly they didn’t work and as I turned to leave, there he was on one knee, in a puddle with an amazing Tiffany diamond ring.
Choosing the wedding dress was quite easy as I knew in my mind I wanted a simple, yet elegant dress, nothing over the top or showy. I chose Maggie Sottero Erika and it was perfect!
My shoes were simple silver sandals from Debenhams, anyone who knows me will tell you I’m not interested in shoes! I had a blue ‘I do’ put on the bottom of each shoe for my something blue. My jewellery was simple silver earrings and a bracelet. The wedding band was also from Tiffanys with ridged edging making it quite unusual and fitted in with a very delicate engagement ring with square cut diamond, that was all the glamour I needed!
Happy weekend my lovely ones!
I am super excited to be introducing you to the amazing Emma Tay who runs the Two Birds Kitchen, from Teignmouth.
Two Birds Kitchen is a pop-up tearoom, which serves homemade food from the side of her absolutely charming up-cycled vintage caravan!
It’s been a running joke between me and my OH with regards to balloons at weddings. Asked what he thinks is a normal decoration at a wedding, the first thing he would say is balloons….!?
I haven’t tested this with any other guys….maybe they all think the same… but ask any girl whether they are thinking of including balloons in their wedding, I’m pretty sure their answer would be…NO!
