Hello all you lovely, loved up beauties, my name is Jo Rogers nee Smith… I know I didn’t improve too much on the surname stakes, but he’s worth it 🙂
Just over 3 years ago, I made the HUGE step to leave my job in a marketing & events agency to take a step out into the big wide world of self-employment and to see whether the hard graft that I put in every day could pay dividends to me rather to someone else.
It has been a long, hard road with a lot of ups and downs, soul searching, trial and errors and learning so much about myself.
I have set up many businesses, and have learnt loads in the process. Along the journey I was given a prose about the Ouroboros by my Dad which really resonated with me, so much so I’m getting a tattoo of this shortly to remind myself constantly of how far I’ve come off my own back, and what I’ve achieved.
“The Ouroboros often symbolizes self-reflexivity or cyclicality, especially in the sense of something constantly re-creating itself, the eternal return, and other things such as the phoenix which operate in cycles that begin anew as soon as they end.”
So why set up a Wedding Blog I hear you say?
A year ago, my life changed again, when my partner in crime proposed to me in a cave in Cheddar Gorge! Not only did this mean marrying the love of my life, but I suddenly found my calling!
Planning my wedding was nothing but a dream. I’ve run events for over 10 years and there was nothing that came close to this. I got to put every part of my heart and soul into it. I found a LOVE for crafting and made pretty much everything at my wedding…even 100 hand sewn love hearts for the back of each persons chair?!
I have been to a lot of weddings and fortunate enough to have been bridesmaid 5 times which gave me the opportunity to see what I did and didn’t want from my own.
Weddings are absolutely personal, they should reflect each couple, who they are, and their love and lives together.
Personally, I wanted a wedding, but not a wedding! Nothing traditional, for example my husband wasn’t in a suit and my cake was a tower of Lindt Balls! They were amazeballs!!
After my wedding was over, I didn’t want the journey to end, so this is why Make My Day Perfect was born.
I just want to encourage and inspire other brides/grooms to not be scared to create the wedding that they really want. It’s no one else’s day, but yours.
